I explored Oil Painting in college and high school and it was the first medium I fell in love with. I trained at the Atelier of Fine Art in Minnesota and attended the California Summer School of the Arts. Here a few select works from 2019-2020

You Remember You

This is a body of work from my studies of trance and artistic channeling. Isolating in a Fine Arts Atelier over a cold Minnesota winter, I practiced a devotion to creativity. I treated inspiration like friendly ghost, listening intensely to silences,  following fresh whims, and offering myself to the energetic sea of creation.

Left Hand Series

For my thesis, I wanted to make a visual accompaniment for Karen Russell’s “St Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves”. I resonated with the theme of spiritual expansiveness constricted by the domestication of girlhood. I was a collegiate athlete and suffered an injury that made me unable to draw. My solution for the loss of motor function was to paint with my non-dominant hand. The powerlessness and lack of control became a beautiful metaphor for the theme, and the process transformed from a painful obstacle to an experience of rich meaning.
